Home Simplified: In the Family Room

Our family room serves so many roles!  We play here, relax here, sleep here, read here, watch TV here, work here, have dance parties on top of the coffee table here, wrestle with the kids here, do cartwheels and practice cheer routines here, sip morning coffee here, gather here, do homework here...and the list could go on and on!  This space is well loved and has officially convinced me that we can never have nice things.  This room has also made me realize I miss one thing very, very much from our old house....those amazingly easy to clean hardwood floors!  Carpet and I are not friends and the day we get to replace the carpet with hardwoods will be one to remember.

It is a very simple room but every piece of furniture in this room serves an important purpose.
We store a lot of things in this room, but once again organization makes it possible to have things, store the things and still keep a clean, tidy home looking clean and tidy.  Something I love about this room is that everything happens here and even with everything happening here...it still only takes 5 minutes to clean it up...no matter the size of the mess.  All thanks to everything having a specific place!  My kids can clean this room by themselves too without me freaking out about things not going where they belong...they know because it is very clear where each type of toy goes, where shoes go, where pillows go, etc.

All the words!  My favorite thing in the room!  Words to live by, words from my favorite song, words that inspire and convict, words that comfort.  And my very, very favorite...at the top...

"Love grows best in little houses,
with fewer walls to separate.
Where you eat and sleep so close together,
you can't help but communicate.
And if we had more room between us,
think of all we'd miss.
Love grows best in houses just like this."

Beauty and function.  I love this cabinet and how it is perfect for the space and helps hide all our favorite toys that the kids play with every day!

Every square inch is used in this home...even tiny corners!

Hope you enjoyed a peek into our family room!  Come back next week for our final stop in our tour....The Bathroom.  I know you are all dying to see how tiny it is...and yes...somehow we survive with 6 people and one bathroom.

See you next week.
